Proverb are wise sayings which tests the wits of people since it doesn’t have clear meanings. People are considered to be wise, matured and intelligent by just adding proverbs in their speeches or conversing using proverbs.

HOW PROVERBS ARE CONSTRUCTED

Proverbs are inspired by observation of life, people, behaviors, past occurrences, believes, other creatures and morals.

IMPORTANCE OF PROVERBS

  • Proverbs are used to garnish conversations or speeches
  • It brings out the key subjects in speeches
  • It gives morals or advice
  • It signifies eloquence
  • Proverbs can be used to summarize long sentences

 

 

EXAMPLES OF PROVERBS AND THEIR MEANINGS

Proverb — if a hen gets drink, it forgets the hawk

Meaning – People forget about their journey once they have some sort of comfort

Proverb — No one uses where they fall as their sleeping place

Meaning—No situation is permanent so never accept your fall as your fate.

Proverb —There is no reward in laziness than a worn-out cloth

Meaning —There is no reward in laziness but poverty

Proverb – if your child pukes on your thighs, you don’t chop off your thighs but you clean the puke

Meaning – If your child disobeys you, you don’t disown him/her but you try to correct and forgive him

Meaning—if we leave in peace there is no way there would be misunderstanding

Meaning—No one knows tomorrow thus you have to treat everyone equally

Meaning—If you play with a kid without boundaries, he loses    respect for you.
